why is awesomium fucking up my ddo client?

yeah im in full rage mode.

it was just implemented with update 18 and now i get lag every 6 seconds and my game client crashes.. also why dose it require up to 14 instances and why can it consume 99% of my system resources on my gaming laptop. the ddo devs have no clue how to fix it and none of our user forums have posted any form of functional fix. i fucking h8 you awesomium gtfo of my games.

DDo just introduced awesomium into their game client to manage ingame windows like the ddo store the auction house and other in game windows. the awesomium.dll shows no odd behavior, but the awesomiumprocess.exe can spawn up to 14 instances and after a few min will start to lag spike me every 6 seconds. im not the only player to experience this and ddo is not the only gane that is affected.

i am running a gaming laptop with a i7 core with 8gb ram and 25% free hd space.

before the update there was occasional server load lag but since U18 the game routinely crashes, and laggs out so bad that even a simple quest can be imposoble to complete due to awesomiumprocess.exe maxing out my cpu and hogging all of my ram and virtual memory.

now im not a programer nor do i aspire to become one, i just want to be able to play my fave game after a hard days work... but with the clusterfuck shitshow most ppls are encountering ingame with crashes and a 6 second rubberbanding lag it has become more of a frustration than enjoyment.

i would like to say, you make it sound simple to use and configure, which i assume is the bullshit your sales persons use as the key selling sales hook. but the reality of it is ... DDO, LOTR, GuildWars and a few other online games have been fucked over without the courtesy of a reach around... if it is so simple to use why is there so many threads re: why is awesomium crashign my game client, why is awesomium maxing out my ram/processor.(google search awesomiumprocess.exe is crashing my game client.. omfg the ammount of hits is shocking).

im not asking for you to fix my game client nor an i asking for a workaround that i can apply on my gaming laptop.. im only suggesting that you follow up on the threads in these games re this shity process fucking up my fun. maybe you should of edmucated the devs to these games on how to properly implement it.. or better yet maybe stop it from spawning multiple instances that max my system resources and crash my game.

the only semi workaround i have found is once logged into the game open the containg folder and delete it.. but if i want to use any ingame menus the game will crash and that just fucks over my happpy fun time.

i assume that due to my vulgarity this thread will just get shitcanned and totally ignored but maybe, hopefully some non fucktard knows how to fix this cluster fuck and will post a sufficient solution.

from the threads i have read.. toe os makes no differance.. laggs out xp, vista, win7 and win8.. also some macfags have issues with awesomiumprocess.exe

tl;dr awwesomium is crashing game clients and lagging the holyfuckamoly out of my fave game.

if any details are required post what info you need and maybe how to collect it.. iwork construction and am not interested in learning to TS or bug fix.. i just want to play ddo after a 10hr day of busting my ass off building condos for yuppies.

ps gramar and spellign nazis can STFU im to lazy to spell check and have no fux to give to gramar

You can't take it out of their program. They just need to optimize it.

awesomium_process dosen't require 14, or any other number of instances by itself. It's require 1 instance per WebView (an browser tab analog). How many tabs, so many instances of awesomium_process. It's will not start by itself. awesomium_process it's process of rendering. It's convert html document to it's visual view. Of course 14 browser tabs it's not so much, if it's an simple windows application, but when it comes to 3D, it's completely different. I don't know, how it realized in DDo, but in game engine, that I usually used (Unity3D), awesomium_process used to generate a texture. Then 3D engine manipulate with it, like with an regular texture. It should be understood that this texture is complex. It can and it will change dynamically. Naturally, this will affect the performance.

It seems, like developers of DDo had not done the necessary optimizations. Which exactly optimization is nedeed, it's a separate question. And the answer to this question should give developers of DDo, not Awesomium. I just give an example. The length of the texture sides by vertical and horizontal must be power of two (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 etc), otherwise even one instance of awesomium will take ~20% of your 8-cores CPU (1 of the cores will be fully loaded). And it's not the awesomium fault, but feature of texture processing by 3D engine.

I also think, that 14 instances of awesomium (or any other browser engine) at the same time, it's too much for 3D application, especially given that they are used only to create the game menu. This is a very wasteful, and it's a DDo developers fault. It seems like they try load all game menus beforehand. If so, then this is not the best idea.

In general, your accusations to the developers of awesomium are unfounded. It's like blaming the developers of Visual Studio or Delphi, that someone did a bad, buggy program using these development environments. Awesomium is just a tool, and like any tool, it must be used correctly. This site has all the necessary documentation, and also this answers platform. All to the developer could learn how to use this tool correctly.

awesomium leaks/crashes/etc as hell if you run more than one webview. as a workaround we use it via ipc wrapper: 1 view = 1 webcore.

I don't care who is to blame, but I am having the same exact issue. When I first start up my computer and start playing DDO it runs smooth. Then after a while it starts to get rubber band laggy, and then randomly alt-tabs to my desktop. Whenever this happens I check my task manager, and sure enough there is always a dozen or more instances of Awesomeium running. I have to end all the tasks, and go back to the game, but they respawn quickly. I end up having to restart my computer to play again without crazy lag and alt-tabbing issues until the little awesomium zergfest begins again.

If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, please share. Also, if you are having the same problem, please post, as we should be letting Turbine know about this issue. Surely the OP and i aren't the only ones.

Since DDO/Turbine will just delete anything they remotely find critical, constructive or not, I will comment here that Turbine Dev's are utterly incompetent, uncaring, and even vindictive. They probably could care less if this miserable implementation of this tool actually leapt from your PC, killed your dog and burned down a local orphanage. So... good luck with that.
